Advantages of Contractual Tutoring

Many teachers have done tutoring for a little extra money.  You set your cost and find a parent that needs an hour or two a week with their child.  You begin tutoring the child and a few weeks later, they need to cancel.  Then, a few more weeks later, basketball season starts and practice conflicts with your time, so you go later in the evening.  Next, there are away games and you get disrupted again. Your “regular” tutoring is far from regular or stable.

Stable Income with Flexible Hours

All of that changes with contractual tutoring.  For one thing, the students you are helping have an IEP that requires they have a certified teacher tutoring them with their subjects.  So, you have a set schedule to keep the school in compliance with the IEP.   Each student is different and has a different set of requirements for tutoring.  It can be as little as one hour or as much as 30 hours per student per week.  You also choose the positions and your hours.
